Commitment, dedication and a thank you!
From sledges to brollies!
Last year we saw the commitment from all the carers battling against the snow to ensure our clients received their full services. Priory Homecare achieved a 100% result for maintaining and delivering services during these icy times. So far this year we’ve managed to avoid the snow but battle against the wind and rain, with storms cutting electrical supplies and causing chaos in many parts of the country. Here at St Michaels we have had 2 announced full days without power and 5 unannounced power cuts lasting 3 hours or more. Bearing in mind the nucleus for Priory Homecare is made up of Care Managers and administrators relying on electricity for phones, computers, light and warmth but most importantly to maintain our 24 hour communication to all our people, carers and clients.
I would like to thank these people who coped really well during these times….working with generators, poor lighting and 9 telephones diverted to 1 mobile phone. Wrapping up in warm clothes and bringing flasks to work, to ensure communication was maintained and prevent interruption to services delivered. Also, when the hive of activity came to a stand still as office staff were plummeted into a dark, cold, quiet room when the black out struck, swearing was kept to a minimum! It was definitely a case of powering through!
